Im looking at becoming an LPN and im not sure which one to go with, VIU OR sprott shaw??
HELP Pleasee!!

Is there a reason you would not consider Camosun?
I just completed their program in September and found it to be very thorough. I was very confident writing the National Exam.

I am currently taking the LPN program at VIU and it has done nothing but amaze me! The instructors are wonderful and very supportive, tuition is about 5000 and sprott shaw is around 20 000. VIU has a great rep and getting hired on at a facility afterwards is much easier.

How much money do you have to spend?
VIU is subsidized by the gov. so the course cost is maybe a forth of the private schools.

Sorry to say it, and I realize this is generalized as it really comes down to the personal students work ethic but...
VIU (formerly Malaspina) students are more readily accepted by the facilities. I think it's seen as being more professional.

I have heard good and bad about both coleges. Apparently VIU has a high fail rate at the Nanaimo campus. Sprott Shaw is more expensive but has smaller classes. But VIHA will hire grads from either of them... has anyone gone to either of them?

Here you can check out the National Exam overall marks by teaching institute. While it does not tell you the entire story, it can be a starting place. Take for example if you have ESL students in your class. We had a couple of things happen in our class - ESL being one of them, that people did not write at the last minute or had to re write the exam, bringing our school mark down when it really wasn't.
